Fully funded by the Abel Prize in mathematics, the program is designed for post doctoral mathematicians under 35, based in developing countries to undertake a research sabbatical at a internationally renowned mathematical center of excellence. The Volunteer Lecturer Program supports universities in developing countries keen to host volunteer lecturers for 3-4-weeks for an intensive mathematics course in its mathematics degree program. The grant may be used for hosting volunteer lecturers in person or online.

This program gives partial support to Mathematical Science conferences organized in developing countries. The program supports both live and online conferences by allowing grants for travel and accommodation arrangements for participants from developing countries, or to cover expenses for material or services needed for virtual activities.
