The Individual Travel Research Program supports mathematicians from developing countries to travel to a mathematical institution (worldwide) for collaborative research (minimum stay of four weeks). The reaserch visit has to be tied to a specific research project/plan and a collaborating institute.
The grant is intended to cover travel costs of the grantees for up to 5,000 Euro which covers accommodation and local living expenses for the first month. Any additional support from a different institution must be declared in the application.
Applications for longer stays are encouraged, but the awarded grant cannot be used to cover expenditures after the first month. Priority will be given to applicants that receive support from the host institution unless its a first time applicant to this program.
This program does not support travel cost to any conference, summer school, workshops, celebration or jubilees.
If your application is not completed by the deadline, it cannot be considered for evaluation. Please send your application at least two weeks in advance so it can be checked.

Applicants are advised to send their applications at least two weeks in advance, in case documents have to be supplemented.

3. Please note that the grant does not cover any travel costs, accommodation and living costs for requests for additional trips (e.g. to participate in conferences/ workshops) during this time. Those costs have to be covered by the grantee or his/her host institution.
The grant is disbursed in two installments:
To receive the second payment the report, pictures and all invoices must be sent to the IMU Secretariat. The grantee must submit a detailed financial report and activity with all invoices and boarding tickets to the IMU Secretariat (via email) four weeks after the conclusion of the visit.
The Grant Selection Committee (GSC) consists of the CDC Secretary for Grants Selection as Chair and has six other members, three from CDC and three others, each representing Latin America, Africa and Asia respectively.
The applications are circulated to the GSC through the IMU Secretariat in Berlin, Germany.
